Meet Dr. Holmes

Jon D. Holmes D.M.D., M.D., F.A.C.S. is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. After completing his undergraduate studies cum laude at Mississippi State University, Dr. Holmes received his Dental degree summa cum laude from the University of Mississippi. He then earned his Medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he was the recipient of the Academic Achievement Award. Following a general surgery internship, he completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at UAB.

Dr. Holmes was subsequently named the Dennis and Roberta R. Youde Fellow in Head and Neck Surgery at Legacy Medical Center in Portland, Oregon, where he received advanced training under internationally recognized surgeons, Eric J. Dierks, M.D., D.M.D. and Bryce E. Potter, M.D., D.M.D. Dr. Holmes returned to Birmingham where he served on the faculty at UAB.

In July 2002, he and Dr. Mark Clark joined practices at a State-of-the-Art outpatient surgery facility located in Historic Southside. Dr. Holmes serves as a referral resource for doctors across the southeast for the management of benign and malignant tumors and complex reconstruction. In addition, he is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and provides a wide range of facial cosmetic and reconstructive procedures.

Dr. Holmes maintains a strong interest in educating other doctors through his part-time teaching appointment, publications and invited lectures.
