George W. Matthews Jr., D.M.D. is Board Certified By the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Matthews received his dental degree from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 1958. He served his general surgery internship from 1962 to 1963, and his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery from 1963 through 1965. Dr. Matthews opened his private practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery in 1965 in Birmingham. Over the years, Dr. Matthews has maintained an intense interest in education and serves as a part-time clinical professor at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in Birmingham. In July 2002, he joined practices with Dr. Mark Clark and Dr. Jon D. Holmes.
